Dear Lanne and Family - We were sorry to hear the news of Bob's passing. He was a very special man. So kind, so approachable, so caring. I always remember him smiling, especially at the 4th of July parties, but even when he was treating my dad at the wound center and making jokes about how old they both were as they were both born in early September of 1934. He will be greatly missed. Our sincerest condolences - Clair and John Sever

Lanne and the entire Hentschel Family-
So sorry to hear of Bob's passing - enjoyed our talks again when visiting at Riverledge. He always had a smile and a pleasant Hi! He was a true professional and always went above and beyond for his patients and friends - there should be more like him. I will always remember medical questions he would answer for me when my kids were little - even though he wasn't a pediatrician I trusted his answers - a good friend. The numerous Van Dusen's he volunteered for as the doctor on the spot always thinking of the kids and watching his own participate. So glad that he got inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame for his obvious athletic talent too. Just a wonderful person and so glad to have known him. Cherish your memories and he will always be with you. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely - Penny Sharrow

Lanne, Sue, Jim, Kate, and Will, I was sorry to hear about Bob's passing. It made me think of 2 stories that to me were typical of the Bob we all knew and loved. It was during a Wright's Sporting Goods Boat show and he was giving rides in his Formula, going, of course, at Bob speed! Pat Hackett's hat flew off his head, Chuck Kelly tried to catch it, and I just said, "OMG, not only did the hat flew off, but Bob was going so fast, Pat's hair went with it!" We had a chuckle or two over that. The other time was when I was reading a composition one of his kids (whom I shall not name) had written about a personal hero. The hero of choice was Bob and the comment that I loved was "my hero believes that speed is essential in cars and boats and that he who dies with the most toys wins." Hope those two anecdotes give you a smile to ease the sadness. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Lois Langtry & Ken Judd

To the whole Hentschel Family-
I just recently heard about Doc’s passing. The last time I saw him was at United Helpers visiting my mother. She said, “let’s go see Bob Hentschel”, who was also a patient at the time. And we walked over for a visit with Bob and Lannie! I hadn’t seen the family in years and he was so proud to catch me up on all of his children. We caught up on great memories living across the street on Franklin Street. I had so many great times with the family going boating on the “big” boat, or with Jimmy on the little Boston Whaler! So many great road trips for minor hockey, and he was always so kind and generous. He even let Jim and I play street hockey on their big front porch....puck marks and all! If we weren’t feeling well, Mom would give Dr. a call, and he would happily help out. Such different times today! Lannie, Sue, Jim, Katie and Will...you truly had a great husband and Dad. I’m so thankful for the memories. May God bless you all in this sad time and may God bless his soul. My deepest sympathies...
Jeff Manke

Lannie, Susan, Jim, Kate and Will-sending you all love, thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I am lucky enough to have been able to reap his kindness, his vast knowledge of literally everything, his jokes that we laughed at because he laughed so loud at himself, his love for cars, the boat trips up into Canada and all the great memories while growing up. He was truly a second dad to me and I love him for that! He was a staple in our community and just loved his family and cared so deeply for his patients. His legacy will never die. Cheers Dr. Bob...until we meet again. Love you.....Julie Sholette-Hynes

Bob Hentschel was a kind and decent man. His influence on me and my career are immeasurable. He interviewed and hired me in NYS Corrections. He taught me a lot and always made me laugh. Later, Bob groomed me to move into his position when he retired. I will never forget Bob’s kindness, love and mentor ship. Rest In Peace in God’s glory.

Mrs. Hentschel, Sue, Jim, Kate and Will. I am deeply sad to hear of the passing of Dr. Hentschel. Living in the little apartment at the back of your house was such a life changer for me, it would be hard to ever repay your family for all that you meant to me. Watching your family love each other taught me a million things about life and parenting -- things that changed the way I approached my life and future. Dr. Hentschel was always kind and friendly with me. I remember once when Erik -- remember my dog?? -- got into a fight and was bitten. I brought him over to your living room, and Dr. Hentschel examined him so seriously and respectfully. He advised me on how to take care of him, and that it would be fine without a visit to the vet. (He was right.) He didn't make me feel like I was putting him out or bothering him in the least. There are so many delightful memories of being with and around your family that I wouldn't know where to begin. He was a dear, smart, kind dad and husband. I'm sure he was an awesome grandfather, too. Know that I hold you all in my heart as you suffer this loss. Love to all.

hi guys so sorry to hear this Lannie, as you know if it was not for Dr every day telling me I was not going to die; I am not sure how I would have made it through that summer; and the flying trip he took with me to BOston- without money, and had to get some from a resident to get back to airport
he has truly a Dr who cared and will be missed. Just wish I could have repaid him in some way. ai enjoyed the last time ia saw him as I listened to him talk about the robot
Again-- so sorry to hear this

Lanne, Sue, Jim, Kate and Will - My sincere condolences to you and your family. Bob was a wonderful man - always thoughtful, kind and fun! I have so many wonderful memories with your family! One funny memory, when I’d just gotten my driver’s permit, he insisted that I drive the corvette when he picked me up for babysitting (forget the fact that I lived on a hill, the seat was stuck permanently back so I couldn’t press the clutch and I had no idea what I was doing!); when I finally got going, he looked at me and said “Debbie - don’t bother to stop for the stop signs! Just pray and keep going!” Love to you all - Deb (Dionne) Wright ❤️

I am very said to hear of the passing of Dr Hentschel and my prayers are with your family. We always enjoyed being around Dr Hentchel and Lanne, they always made us feel welcome at their house as kids and made us laugh. He was an inspiration to me in many ways. To this day I remember the day as a 17 yr old he handed me the keys to his brand new corvette and he said let’s go for ride Boner. I nearly passed out!! Then the smile on my face didn’t go away for days. A great man who was a great inspiration to many. We will all miss you.

My deepest sympathies to his family. Dr. was so special to so many. Myself included. As an RN I had the privilege of working side by side with Dr. in the OR, his office and the ER. I will never forget his compassion and love for his patients. And thank you Dr. Hentschel for my nephew Chris, who I know would not be alive today if you had not come in for him that night. You operated and stabilized him and then flew by his side to Syracuse. God speed. You were the best.
