Obituary of Myrtis M. Ashley

Services for Myrtis “Myrtie” Ashley, age 82, of Ogdensburg will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Myrtis went to be with the Lord on Saturday night, September 5, 2020. Myrtis is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Willard Ashley; her two children, Laurel Ford and her husband, Brian, of Rochester and Charles Ashley and his wife, Janice, of Ogdensburg; two grandchildren; three great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, James Brenno and Edward (Rip) Brenno, as well as two siblings in infancy. Mrytis was born on March 15, 1938, the daughter of Harold and Edith (Black) Brenno. On New Year’s Eve of 1956 she had her first date with Willard and they have been together ever since. The couple were married on May 18, 1957 at Notre Dame Church with Rev. Charbonneau officiating. Myrtie raised her two children and babysat a total of 29 children over the years, all of whom she dearly loved. After her own children were raised Myrtie went to work at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home as a Therapy Aid where she continued to spread her love and compassion to the people she cared for. Myrtis was blessed with many talents and she used those talents to bless us all. Everything she did; her baking, her pickles, her crafts, her flowers, were shared with and enjoyed by many. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and many friends. She was a member of the Ogdensburg Garden Club, the Red Hat Society, and she volunteered for several local organizations and events including the Festival of Trees. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Joseph’s Foundation, 950 Linden St., Ogdensburg, NY 13669. Condolences may be made online at www.fraryfuneralhomes.com.
