Obituary of Ola A. Demers

On Saturday, June 11, 2022, Ola Albion Demers (born Radloff), loving mother of six children, passed away peacefully at age 82. Ola was born on July 5, 1939, in St. Regis Falls, New York, to Louis and Ethel (Sochia) Radloff. She graduated from Tupper Lake Junior and Senior High School, and on August 10, 1957, she married Clifton Herbert Mandigo, Jr. They had two sons, Kyle and Todd, and two daughters, Lou Ann and Tammy. In 1972, she remarried to James Eli Fletcher. They had two daughters, Jesse and Billi Jo. Ola had a passion for adventure, and she always loved the beach. Although most of her life was spent in the Adirondacks, several of her early adult years were spent living and traveling throughout the country - ultimately making her way all the way to California! Ola had a beautiful singing voice, entertaining friends and family with traditional and original songs. She had a strong, independent spirit, speaking her mind and standing up for what she believed in. She also had an incredible sense of humor, coupled with an infectious laugh! A smile always accompanied the face of any family member who mentioned Ola, affectionately called Nani by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Over the past year, she had even become penpals with one of her great-grandchildren, Elias, sending fun stickers and stories back and forth. She always made sure to let us know she loved us, parting ways with "Ma loves ya" or "Nani loves you!" A sentiment we all still hold in return for her and always will. Ola was predeceased by her parents, her two sons, Kyle and Todd Mandigo, and her sister, Alice. She is survived by four of her children: Lou Ann Rice; Tammy Plausteiner and her husband, Tim; Jesse Fletcher and her partner, Shawn; Billi Fletcher and her partner, Darryl; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ola will be sadly missed by her many friends and family members who will continue to treasure their happy memories with her forever. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at the Frary Funeral Home in Tupper Lake at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed directly by a burial ceremony at the Holy Name Cemetery.
