Obituary of Dolores Jean Trombley

Dolores Jean Garceau Trombley, 83, of Malone, NY passed away at the Alice Center Nursing Home in Malone, NY on February 15, 2022 after a long and courageous journey with Alzheimer’s. Dolores was born on Decemeber 23, 1938, at 34 South Pearl Street in Malone, NY by Dr. F. Finney, to Edward Bartley Joseph Garceau and Zona Bernadetta Camp Garceau Manley. Her father predeceased her on December 3, 1939. Her mother predeceased her on December 5, 1996. Dolores lived all her life in Malone and attended local schools. She was also known as “Tuffy,” a nickname that was given to her by her Grandmother Viola Garceau who called her “Little Tuffy.” Dolores was a strong woman who always said she was a “Household Executive” taking pride in running the household and raising her children. Dolores loved spending time crocheting, knitting, painting ceramics, and dancing. She could always be counted on to be the first person on the dance floor. She was a member of the Malone Moose Club and the Franklin Historical Society for many years. She was married to Elroy Isaac James Trombley on August 3, 1957, at the U.S. Naval Station in Key West, Florida by the Reverend Edward L. Richardson. Elroy predeceased her on June 15, 2013. Of this marriage, they had six children. Four sons, Bruce Alan who predeceased them on September 12, 1978, Timothy Lee and his wife Suzan of Constable, NY, Vaughn Scott who predeceased them on October 13, 1991, Zacharie Lee Trombley and his wife Lisa of Malone, NY. Two daughters, Mrs. Gary (Sindy Sue) Dineen of West Bangor, NY, and Mrs. Marvin (Zonalynn Anne) Conners of Madrid, NY; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dolores is survived by two half-brothers and two sisters-in-law, James and Jennine Manley of Malone, NY, Jeffrey and Julie Manley of Chateaugay, NY; two half-sisters, Joanne Holloway of Baldwinsville, NY, and Jay- Nea Bradford of Baldwinsville, NY. Dolores is also survived by her companion Reginald Sweet of Chateaugay, NY. Dolores was also predeceased by one great-granddaughter, Kaitlin Terra Herne on February 21, 2008. The family wishes to thank Dolores’s extended family at The Alice Center Nursing Home for their devoted care of Dolores for the past 7 years. All these people are truly angels on earth. To honor Dolores’s wishes, calling hours and funeral services will be at the convenience of the family at Frary Funeral Home in Malone, NY. Burial will be at Notre Dame Cemetery in Malone, NY in the spring.
