Obituary of Raymond Charles Tarbell

Raymond Tarbell age 88, of North Bangor passed away on December 23, 2021 at his home. He was born July 9, 1933, the son of Elwin and Mildred (Whipple) Tarbell. He graduated from Franklin Academy in 1952. On January 17, 1988 he married Evon Ashlaw. He was a farmer for 30 plus years, owned his own tractor trailer and was an over the road transport driver. He also went to work managing Adirondack Ice & Storage, upon his retirement he opened his own business, Ray’s Furnace Repair. Ray was involved in many associations including, the president of Kiwanis, President of the Franklin County Fair Association, President of the Malone Fish and Game Club, honored by being named the New York State Farmer of the Year, listed in Whos- Who, active in the Brushton Methodist Church, and he taught Sunday School for many years, Past Master of the Masonic Order of Brushton, and Past Lecturer of the Order of the Eastern Star. Ray was best known for his gift of laughter, and he never met anyone that didn’t become a lifelong friend. There was no boundary on his love for his family. He also had a deep love for all the animals that passed through his life whether it be as big as a horse or as small as a kitten. He will not only leave an empty spot in all our hearts, but will also be missed by his new pets, Meek, Mac, and Miller. They are going to miss their sleeping buddy. He is survived by his wife, Evon Tarbell of North Bangor; his daughter Melanie Ford and her husband Ralph of Erie, PA; his sons, Blaine Tarbell and his wife Jennifer of Vernal, UT and Keane Tarbell of Waco, TX; five grandchildren, Alexander & Ryan Ford , Madison & Zack Tarbell, and Sydney Maserang and her husband Tim; one great grandchild, Willow Rae Maserang; two step children, Stephen Bessette and his wife Gail of Newmarket, NH and Kimberly Bessette of Southbridge, MA; and three step grandchildren, Tara Andrews, Jacqueline Bessette, and Noelle Poppalardo. He was predeceased by his mother and father; a brother Floyd Tarbell; and a sister, Alice Egan. A service and celebration of life will be held in the spring.
