Obituary of Helen Claire Arnold

Helen Claire Nolan Arnold was born February 1, 1929, the youngest of six children, to Daniel R. Nolan and Jennie Kirby Nolan. She went to country school through 7th grade, where she had her sister Kathryn Nolan Selkirk as a teacher. She attended 8th- 12th grade in Chateaugay School, graduating at the age of 16 in 1945. After waiting a year, she attended Canton ATI for two years, graduating in 1948 with an Associate’s degree. She later worked for Singer Sewing Company in Ogdensburg for one year. Employed later at Warner Brothers in Malone for several years. On January 21, 1956, she married Robert L. Arnold. To this marriage two sons, Daniel Robert and Thomas James were born. When they were both in school, she worked with her husband at Malone Feed and Farm Supply for many years. Robert passed away on May 19, 1988. On May 31, 1997, she married Donald E. Greene. She was a former member of the Maple 4H Club, Chateaugay Grange, Moonshine Square Dance Club, and OES of Malone, NY. She belonged to the Malone Bridge Club. She is a communicate of the Centenary Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her parents, Daniel R. Nolan and Jennie Kirby Nolan; two brothers, D. Arthur and James Nolan; and three sisters, Maurine Edwards, Kathryn Selkirk, and Jennie Toohill. She is survived by her husband, Donald Greene; her sons, Daniel and Claire Arnold and Thomas Arnold and his companion Stephanie; a daughter in law Lori Arnold; six grandchildren, Brock and his wife Erica Arnold, Samantha Arnold, Robert Arnold, Lukas Arnold, Joshua Arnold, and Hannah Arnold; three great-grandchildren, Zoe Arnold, Maxwell Arnold, and Jackson Arnold; two stepdaughters, Donna and her husband Jeff Converse and Mary Jo and her husband Paul Lakomski; step-grandchildren, Laura and Chris Libera, Chelsey and Greg Korhonen, and Nicholas and Alex Lakomski; step-great-grandchildren, Amelia and Elliot Libera; three nephews, Kirby Selkirk and his wife JoEllen, William Selkirk and Dale Selkirk and his wife Ann; a niece Beverly Smith and her husband Howard; several great-nieces and nephews; and two sister-in-laws Theresa Nolan and Ernestine Regetz.
