Obituary of Bruce Albert Fleury

Bruce Albert Fleury, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly on December 5, 2021 at the University of Vermont Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 18,1945 in Westville, New York, he was the son of Watson and Marion (Snyder) Fleury. Bruce was united in marriage to Beverly Fountain on July 6, 1968 in the St Francis of Assisi Church in Constable, New York. Bruce and Beverly raised their family in Connecticut for over 40 years before returning home to Malone to retire and be closer to family. Bruce was an avid year-round golfer and long-term member of TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut, where he faithfully played every weekend with his favorite foursome for decades. When Bruce was not on the green, he was spending time with his grandchildren, cooking his famous chicken nuggets and breakfast potatoes, watching them play sports, and telling them stories about growing up on his family farm. Bruce graduated from Salmon River Central School and attended Canton ATC. He was employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 41 years prior to his retirement. Along with Beverly, his wife of 53 years, he is survived by his daughter, Amy O'Connor of Plattsburgh, New York, his son Bryce and his wife Kimberly of West Hartford, Connecticut; and his four grandchildren Meghan O'Connor, Charles O'Connor and his wife Anna, Tyler Fleury and Jacob Fleury. He is preceded in death by his parents Watson and Marion Fleury. A memorial service will be held on December 11, 2021 at noon at the Frary Funeral Home, 530 East Main Street, Malone, New York. Burial will follow at St Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Constable, New York. The family will receive family and friends from 10:00 am to noon prior to the service time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to University of Vermont Medical Center, Miller 5 Unit, at 111 Colchester Avenue, Burlington, Vermont 05401.
