Obituary of Robert Floyd Johnston

Robert “Bobby” Johnston, 67, of Malone, N.Y. passed away unexpectedly, though peacefully during his sleep following a brief illness from which he was recovering. He was born on July 27, 1954 in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, the son of Robert and Janet (Larsen) Johnston. At the age of 17, Bobby joined the Army, where he served as a paratrooper. As an adult lived in many states throughout the U.S. before settling down in Malone, New York, where he married his best friend Jane (Lanthier) on Valentine’s Day in 2009. He was predeceased by his father, Robert Johnston and stepmother, Irene; his mother, Janet Johnston; two brothers, Bill Johnston, and Wayne Johnston; and one son, Christopher Johnston. He was also predeceased by his two favorite dogs, Toby and Abby. Left to cherish his memory, are his loving wife Jane of Malone, N.Y.; brother, Franklin Johnston (Millie Danielson) of Riverside, California; sister, Karen (Bruce) Oewen of Baldwin City, Kansas; his children Robert Johnston of Arkansas, Sarah and Cella Johnston of Kansas, Danielle (Dylan) Martin of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Chantelle Hurteau of Malone, N.Y.; and most important of all his grandchildren, Sophia and Olivia Hurteau, Liam, Lucas, and Kelsey Martin, who affectionately referred to him as “Paw Paw.” In accordance with his wishes, there will be no public calling hours or memorial service.
