Obituary of Jim Stevens
Irwin “Jim” James Stevens, Jr., age 82, of Watertown, NY and formerly of Dekalb, NY, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Samaritan Summit Village in Watertown, NY. Per his request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. A private Celebration of Life will be held by the family by invitation only. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.
Jim is survived by a son, Stewart J. Stevens and his wife, Marci, of Richville, NY; a daughter, Christina Morehouse of Dekalb Junction, NY; his sister, Sue Ellen “Suzie” Smith of North Carolina; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jim is predeceased by his parents, Irwin and Laurestein Stevens; three brothers, Arthur Dean Stevens, Donald "Bubby" Stevens, and Dexter Stevens and two sisters, Lucy Smith, and Hazel McDonald.
Jim was born on October 9, 1939, in Carthage, NY, the son of the late Irwin J. and Laurestein E. “Dot” (Bigelow) Stevens. He attended local schools and later enlisted in the United States Army in 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1963. Jim married Naomi Mae Smith on November 22, 1964, at the Dekalb Methodist Church with Rev. Allen Best officiating. She predeceased him on November 18, 1987. Jim formerly worked at Diamond International.
