Obituary of Joseph Anthony Schack

Memorial Services for Joseph Anthony Schack, 65, of Massena, NY, will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021, at 10:00AM at St. Stephens Church in Croghan, NY, with burial to follow at St. Stephens Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg. Mr. Schack passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2021, surrounded by his loving family under the care of St. Lawrence Valley Hospice. Joseph is survived by his wife, Crystal Schack of Massena, NY; his children, Mindy Lynne Hall of Clayton, NY, Jesse Ryan of Ogdensburg, NY, Emily Ryan and her fiancé, Andrew Jock, of Cicero, NY; his two brothers, Carl Schack and his wife, Verna, of Croghan, NY, and Timothy Schack and his wife, Lenna, of PA; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Nennstiel and her husband, William, of North Carolina, and Monica Plantz and her husband, Bill, of Croghan, NY; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, Leo and Mary Schack; his siblings, Theresa M. Schack, Bernard Schack, Lucille A. Schack Lobley, and Robert F. Schack. Joseph was born on September 5, 1956, in Lowville, NY, to Leo Vincent and Mary Magdelene Schack. He graduated from Beaver River High School. Joseph married Crystal Lee Ryan on November 11, 2011, (because 1 is better than a 10) at Special Memory Chapel in Las Vegas, NV. He started working at Kraft as a warehouse laborer, later retiring from ALCOA as a warehouse laborer. Joseph was someone who thoroughly enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a history buff and loved war movies, working with his hands, Snoopy, and watching football, especially the New York Giants. He loved spending time in the outdoors telling stories with friends and campfires by the river. Joseph had a big heart and was loved by all that knew him. Hearts & Roses.
