Obituary of Thomas Derochie

Thomas C. Derochie passed away on July 10, 2021. He had resided at 98 Railroad Street, Malone, NY. He was born on June 17, 1925 in Annsville, NY to Adolphus Derochie and Lois (Cole) Derochie. He graduated from Berkley High School in Berkley, CA. Tom served in the U.S. Navy as a Gunnery Mate First Class during both World War II and the Korean conflict. After leaving the U.S. Navy Tom owned and operated Malone Wholesale Grocery for several years. HE went to work at McCadam Cheese Company as Shift Supervisor, retiring in 1983. Tom was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Tom was married in 1947 to the former Marilyn Green. The marriage ended in divorce. In 1978 Tom was united in marriage to the former Betty Allen Lane who predeceased him in 2011. Tom’s love of family, integrity, positive view of life and that wonderful, contagious smile, will be forever remembered of those who survive, his two daughters, Gloria and her husband Darrell Johnson of Westville and Barbara Stephenson of Malone, NY; his step children, Paul and Renee Lane, Cindy (Lane) and David Scott, Karen (Lane) and Dwayne LaMay, all of Malone, NY; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great- grandchildren; and a close family friend, Dr. Allan Schlicht of Juneau, AK. He was predeceased by his parents, Adolphus and Lois Derochie, his wife Betty, his sister, Mary Alice in 1931, and his step- daughter, Judy (Lane) Maness in 2000. A memorial service will be held in the fall of 2021. Donations may be made in Tom’s memory to the American Legion, Elm Street, Malone, NY. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home, Malone.
