Obituary of Shirley Bombard

Shirley A. Bombard, age 76 of Malone, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday June 26, 2021 at The Alice Hyde Rehabilitation Center. At the request of Shirley, there will be no calling hours. Her final resting place will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, next to her husband. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home, Malone. Shirley was born in Saranac Lake, NY on January 27, 1945 to Leonard Bova and Mary Harrigan and was raised by her grandparents, William and Margaret Harrigan of Chateaugay, NY. She graduated from Chateaugay Central School in 1963 and started work at the Malone Dress Factory. On June 11, 1966, she was united in marriage to Kendrick Bombard in St. Joseph’s Church in Malone, NY. In 1967, her son Kevin was born and she chose to be a stay-at-home mom. She started her career as a volunteer in the X- Ray Department at the Alice Hyde Medical Center, which eventually became a part time job in which she worked 30 years, retiring in 2009. Shirley was also an active volunteer for the St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Shop. Shirley enjoyed sewing, gardening, watching NASCAR and her caring for her beloved Pug Smokey. She is survived by her son, Kevin W. Bombard; two granddaughters, Taylor and Schyler Bombard; uncles and aunts; and many cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Kendrick on December 8, 2014; her parents Leonard and Mary Bova; and her grandparents, William and Margaret Harrigan. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
