Obituary of Gerald Lawrence Collette

Gerald Lawrence Collette age 71, passed away Saturday March 20, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family. A funeral mass will be held Friday March 26, 2021 at 1:00PM at Notre Dame Church in Malone with Fr. Mike and Fr. Steve officiating, with a burial following at Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday March 25, 2021 at Frary- Spaulding Funeral Home from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary- Spaulding Funeral Home. Mr. Collette is survived by his wife, Linda Patterson Collette; his two children, Teena Collette of Mooers, NY and Todd (Jessica) Collette of Malone, NY; two brothers, Ralph Collette and Donald Collette; four grandchildren, Kris Watson III, Xander Collette, Wyatt Collette, and Chayce Collette; and two nieces, Donna Rubin and Debbie Collette- Cromp. Gerald was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Harriett Collette; his two sisters, Patricia Collette and Sharon Collette- Riggs; a grandson Hunter Collette and several aunts and uncles. Gerald was born May 9, 1949 in Malone, NY to the late Henry Collette and Harriett (Gibbo) Collette. Gerald graduated from Franklin Academy in 1968 and later joined the US Army Reserves. On June 28, 1975, Gerald married Linda Patterson at Notre Dame Church. He then worked for Tru-Stitch as a truck driver and later worked at a flower shop in Malone. Mr. Collette operated his own plowing business until 1997. He was a member of the American Legion Post 219. He enjoyed hunting camp, working on cars, bar-b-que’s in the back yard, a day at the beach, fishing with his children and grandchildren, as well as gardening. Gerald took pride in always being able to do his own work in remodeling his home. He was a family man and a person who would do anything for anyone. A reception will be held after the burial on Friday. The location will be announced at the wake. Condolences can be made online at fraryfuneralhomes.com.
