Obituary of Doris Barkley

A Funeral service for Doris Rose Barkley, age 98, will be held Thursday, March 18th, 2021, at 4:00pm with Deacon Jim Ellis officicating, at Frary-Stuart Funeral Home. Calling Hours will be held prior to the funeral from 2:00-4:00pm. Doris passed away Thursday, March 11th, 2021, at Mercy Living Center in Tupper Lake, NY. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary-Stuart Funeral Home, Tupper Lake, NY. Doris is survived by her three daughters; Marilyn Benware of Tupper Lake, Susan Burner and her husband Joseph of Huber Heights, Ohio, and Linda Kasper-Varden and her husband Norman of Tupper Lake, NY; her five grandchildren, Michele Cupp and Andrew, Michael Kasper and wife Keesha, Jenifer Kasper-Mullilin, Derek Kasper and partner Tom Donroe, and William Kasper; her Great grandchildren, AJ Cupp, Samantha and Steve Stopka, Jacob Cupp, Connor Cupp, Hunter Cupp, Keira Rose Methot, Kiya Mullikin, Resse Kasper, and Dillan Kasper; many foster grandchildren; and she leaves a number of loved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Murlin Barkley and her daughter Donna Barkley. Mrs. Barkley was born on February 18th, 1923, in Utica, NY, to the late Harry Spencer Clark and Florence White. Doris graduated from Whitesboro High in 1940 and later attended Utica School Commerce. She worked as a nursing assistant at St. Luke’s Hospital in Utica. She was a proud member of the East Star Chapter in Tupper Lake, NY. She married Murlin Barkley on February 27th, 1943 in Troy, NY. She enjoyed working with children.
