Obituary of Betty Jane Hart

Betty Jane Hart, 95, of Mountain View, NY, passed away peacefully under Hospice care, with her family by her side on Saturday, January 30, 2021. She had been a resident of the Alice Center since February, 2020. Betty was born in Auburn on December 17, 1925, to parents Daniel and Amy (Gunn) Vibbert. Her 7 siblings, all of the Finger Lakes area: Enid, Marjorie, Arlene, Kay, Jean, Loie, and Ralph, predeceased her. She and her lifelong sweetheart, Earl Fred Hart eloped on April 4, 1944. They were young, in love, strong-willed, and inseparable. By her airforce pilot husband’s side, Betty maintained the most incredible scrapbook history of their journey and life together. They welcomed their only child, Gary E. Hart of Owls Head, in March 1945. Some of Betty’s proudest accomplishments included working for G.E. for 20 years where she gold-plated parts used by NASA on the space shuttles, and buying and renovating the Basswood Road farm in Auburn, NY into their home. She enjoyed snowmobiling, ATVing, going for rides in “the limo”, painting, ceramics, playing the piano, and working with her hands well into her 90’s. Betty and Earl, now reunited in heaven, were loved deeply by their family, and will be missed greatly. Often in matching plaid flannel shirts, they were a well-known couple who made many cherished friends and had a great way of making us all laugh, especially when they were discussing who would get the last cup of coffee. Betty is survived by her son Gary (Nancy) Hart, 5 grandchildren; Shannon (Barbie) Hart of Mt. View, Danny (Tricia) Hart of Westport, Brian (Michelle) Hart of Owls Head, Tamara (Steven) Myatt of Owls Head, and Barry (Ashley) Hart of Malone, 14 great grandchildren; Felicia (Chris LaRock) Hart, Dustin (Julya Conaway) Hart, Noah Hart, Olivia Hart, Kristen (Luke) Prairie, Nicholas Hart, Nathan Hart, Parker Myatt, Eyan Myatt, Thatcher Myatt, Cadence Hart, Carrigan Hart, Tobias Hart, Everleigh Hart, and 6 great-great grandchildren; Shaylyn, Layton, Ryker, Abbriellah, Axton, Hailey; her brother-in-law Charlie Hart of Auburn, NY; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Betty and Earl Hart to the Owls Head United Methodist Church. Graveside services at the Soule Cemetery in Auburn, NY will be announced in the spring. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary- Spaulding Funeral Home, Malone, NY. Condolences can be made at fraryfuneralhomes.com.
