Obituary of Phyllis Jean Harris

Phyllis J Harris 96, of West Bangor, NY fell asleep in Jesus’ arms on December 8, 2020 to wait for his coming and the resurrection. She had been a resident at The Alice Center in Malone, NY since October 20, 2018. Born February 26, 1924 in West Bangor, NY, the daughter of the late Bennett and Lula Lawrence Harris. She graduated from Franklin Academy with the Class of 1940 in Malone, NY. She also attended Emanuel Missionary College in Berrien Springs, MI. She worked 8 years at Tru Stitch Shoe Factory in Malone, NY before joining Marine Midland Bank retiring from there in 1983. She was an active member of the West Bangor Seventh Day Adventist Church and its Treasurer for 60 years. Also, Treasurer of the West Bangor Cemetery for 30+ years. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Joan and Allen Bassett of West Bangor, NY; her sister Marylou Manchester of West Bangor, NY; her grandson Paul and Jennifer Harris of Ellenburg Center, NY; her granddaughter Patricia Russell and John, and Phyllis’ great- grandchildren, Erika and Eli Russell of Brushton, NY; her granddaughter Melissa and Dan Mills their children Devan and Kendra of Brushton, NY; her grandson, Stacey and Dawna Langdon and their children Dalys, Riley, and Payton of Brushton, NY; three great- great- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Phyllis is predeceased by her parents Bennett Harris and Lula Lawrence; her son James D. Harris and his wife Anna; her brother, Emrick Harris; three sisters, Grace Foy, Elsie Patnaude and Marjorie in infancy. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to the West Bangor SDA Church or Bangor Fire and Rescue Department. Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at the West Bangor Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary- Spaulding Funeral Home in Malone, NY.
