Obituary of Joseph VanPutten

Joseph VanPutten, age 74, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at Mercy Living Center. Per Joe’s request, there will be no calling hours or services. Joe was born on August 11, 1945, in Haledon, New Jersey, son of Herman and Mary VanPutten. Joe graduated from De Paul Catholic High School in 1963. He obtained a BA & MA from William Patterson University and his MFA from Pratt Institute. Joe was a licensed electrician, successful in the visual arts including jewelry and furniture. Joe later became a beloved faculty member at William Patterson University. Joe is survived by numerous loving friends and cousins, and was predeceased by his parents. Joe enjoyed spending time with his friends. He had many hobbies and interests including, rock & ice climbing, paddling, speed skating, cross country skiing, model trains and his beloved cats. The list can continue on for days, which Joe would have appreciated, but to anyone who knew Joe, knew he was a passionate man who always wanted to make a difference.
