Rest In Peace my brother. Very few people touched my heart and made me laugh such as you. While we have been thousands of miles apart for years I have never forgotten your kindness and friendship. Only hope we meet again on the other side.

Cindy, I was surprised and saddened to read about Ray's death. He was truly one of the good guys. If he was working, we were assured of a good shift, no matter what. I last saw him when he admitted my mom to Claxton. It was a relief to have him there participating in his care.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Ann Root

From Don Megerle - Ray's cousin in Boston:
I spoke often with my athletes and friends about Ray and his extraordinary wife Cindy....This email is from one of my runners after she completed the 2019 Boston Marathon;
Coach Don,
I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember when I was so nervous about running the marathon with my IT band problem you put it all in perspective when you told me about your cousin Ray. I thought about him and how strong he had to be all the time all through the marathon. Seeing the love his family (you, his wife, others) have for him helped me realize that we never do anything alone. No matter how difficult things get, it's our loved ones who carry us through.
I can't imagine how hard of a time this is for you, with the Boston marathon postponed, practices cancelled, and now the passing of Ray. I am thinking of you and want you to know that your emails brighten my day every day because I remember all the feelings of strength and accomplishment that came with being on the TMT. The team, your coaching, and your stories of Ray have stayed with me and will continue to stay with me forever. I feel very lucky that you shared Ray's story with all of us. He sounds like he was a truly amazing guy.
All my best to you, your cats Tina & Carmen, and your family during this difficult time,
Sophia

I was privileged to work with Ray and Cindy at River Hospital. I cherished our talks about West Virginia. I always knew that the ED patients were in good hands when Ray was on duty and later, when Ray worked as a hospitalist at Claxton.
Ray, I haven't seen you lately, but your loss has left a hole in my heart.

Cindy, I always knew you a wonderful person but, I now realize that you are an angel who ministered to Ray with love and devotion. I wish you the peace only God can provide. Know that you and Ray are still and always will be in my heart.

Ray was much more than a football coach to me growing up. I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing and I offer my sincere condolences to his family. I have not spoken to Ray since the time we spent together, but I am not surprised to hear the great impact that he had on this world. Ray coached my Pop Warner football team. We were the 10th Ward Tigers Jr Midgets. We were small, but we were scrappy!! Just like coach!! As I stated, Ray was much more than a coach to me. I had a chaotic life and relationship with my father, so although only in his 20s Ray stepped up for me. Ray and I would spend hours after practice on Saturdays riding around and going to AQ football games. I'm sure that he could have been many other places, but he chose to spend time with me. He chose to make me know that I mattered. I am now a teacher and coach myself and I have been what Ray was for me many times over. His passing brings pause to me in this very crazy moment of life. While there is fear all around, God has also placed Angels like Ray in our lives.
May God bless Ray's family as he blessed me for my time with my Coach!
Rest peacefully my friend!
Love
Mike LaBue

My brother Raymond. An incredible man, a loving husband, son, brother and friend. Devoted to God, medicine and the care of others, no doubt, he has left his mark on this earth.
My Mom was so proud of her only son. Ray would come home to visit and they would enjoy Red Lobster & watch Jeopardy! They had an unbreakable bond.
Cindy, our Angel sent from heaven above, swept Raymond off his feet! Their unwavering love for each other was wonderful to see and she never left his side.
Raymond... l miss you. I love you.
Until we are all together again, I'll see you in my dreams.
Lovingly, your "little sister" Kathy

I am so very sorry about the passing of Ray. I met Ray when my Wife, Annie had a stroke. She was brought to CHMC, and Ray was one of the Doctors that had taken care of her, and spent time with my Wife and I explaining everything about her condition, and path to recovery. He was instrumental in my Wife's recovery, and I appreciated him for that. When she was released from the hospital, Ray even gave me his phone number if I needed anything, or even just to talk. My Annie passed away 6 months ago from cancer, and I am certain she is now welcoming him to the Kingdom of God with our Lord Jesus. He was an Angel, and I thought the world of him for taking care of my Annie. God Bless him, and your family. Rest in Peace Ray, and go rest with Jesus.

Dear Cindy, There are no words to adequately express my condolences for your loss, just as there are no words to express your profound loss of your dear husband, Ray. The English language limits us at times like this. That perhaps is for the reason that such a great loss is undefinable. Jay and I send our sympathy and care at this time. Do not hesitate to reach out to us in the future. With much love and caring, Jay and Bonnie
