I was a member of the last EMT class that Phyllis taught during her tenure as head nurse of the ER at Saranac General Hospital. With her inspiration and encouragement I became involved in EMS and 10 years later graduated from PA school, ultimately finding employment in the Adirondack Medical Center ER. Over the years Phyllis continued to encourage me in my endeavors. She will be missed for her presence and lovely smile. Our thoughts are with Rusty and the rest of the family in this time of sorrow. Sincerely, Karen and Howard Glass

We would like to send our love and prayers to everyone who is remembering Phyllis at this time. I am the grandaughter of Tom Norman (Phyllis's brother) and I remember fondly, the many occasions growing up, when when Aunt Phyllis and Uncle Ray would stop by my grandparent's house to visit. Many times they had just returned from a big trip in their mighty mobile home!! They always had a special little surprise for my sister and I and I loved hearing the stories of the travel adventures they had been on. My husband, Cameron, and I celebrated our wedding in Saranac Lake last July (2008) and having Aunt Phyllis present was very special. She was a beautiful person and has lived a beautiful life, surrounded by people who love her. She will be missed, but smiles and happy thoughts will always enter my mind when I think of her and Uncle Ray.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at the passing of an absolutely loving and caring woman. Phyllis was one of the first people we met when we started at Saranac Lake General Hospital 26 years ago this July. Her two wonderful sons Rusty and Rick and their families have been a part of our lives ever since. She was very proud of the accomplishments of her boys and their children often sharing this pride at the many sporting events we attended along side of her. She will always be remembered for her energy and spirit not to mention her nursing expertise. Thank you for sharing her with all of us!

Phyllis was one of the first people I met when I came to The General to work, and she willingly shared her skills with me. Her ER was second only to her family in her heart and she took great pride in those of us who worked there with her and in the running of the ER. It has been a great honor to know her and to work with and for her. Jon and I consider her a friend. It is time for her to be reunited with Ray, and we will miss her. Our sincere condolences to her family, may you find great strength in the many memories.
