Obituary of Barbara J. Bombard

TUPPER LAKE- Barbara J. Bombard, 78, of Tupper Lake, died Monday, April 13, 2009 at the AMC Mercy Center where she had resided for the past two months. Born on February 9, 1931 in Tupper Lake, she was the daughter of Lola Barber. She was raised by her grandparents Ida and Winifred Barber. She graduated from Tupper Lake High School in 1949 and married Francis (Kenny) Bombard June 29th of that year. They had six children. Mrs. Bombard worked at Donovan's ice cream & bakery, JJ Newberry's and Jackman's Motel. She was manager of Shopper's city and Big Tupper. She worked for 25 years at Grand Union which she retired from. She was a member of the Long Lake AARP and served as a board member, a member of the Tupper Lake Adult Center and was a member of that board. She also served on the Franklin county board of election's and was a member of the St. Anne's society where she served as secretary, treasurer and President for over ten years. She is survived by her husband Francis of 60 years, daughters, Cynthia Nadeau of Plattsburgh, Anna Rodrigue of Balston Spa, Donna Fuller and her husband Jack of Norwood, Elaine Gray and her husband Roger of Morrisville, one son Jeffrey Bombard of Tupper Lake. She is also survived by one sister Rosalie Dunn and her husband Leo of Haynesville, Louisiana, 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by one son Francis in March 2007. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 16 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral home. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 1 pm. at St. Alphonsus church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
