Obituary of Leah S. Fletcher

Leah S. Fletcher, age 78, of 101 Clinton Ave., Saranac Lake, died Sunday, October 19, 2008 at the Franklin County Nursing Home in Malone. Born in Saranac Lake, New York on September 10, 1930, she was the daughter of Clarence and Lorena (Martin) Swinyer. Leah was a life-long resident of Saranac Lake and had been employed by the Ayres Insurance Agency and the Army Navy Store. She was later employed as a secretary at Sunmount for 25 years and St. Josephs rehabilitation center as a receptionist until 2005 when she retired for medical reasons. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and loved to bowl, knit and square dance. Leah married Herbert Fletcher on April 12, 1952. He predeceased her on October 13, 2004. She is survived by five children: Steven Fletcher and his wife Janet of Saranac Lake, Raymond Fletcher and his wife Carol of Lake Clear and Randall Fletcher and his wife Dorene, Jeffrey Fletcher and his companion Sue Starr and Wendy Martin and her husband Robert all of Saranac Lake, fourteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, six brothers and sisters: Frederick Muncil of Jaffrey, NH, Dorothy Lorette and her husband James of Saranac Lake, Nancy Johnston of Peterboro, NH, JoAnne LeClair of Jaffrey, NY, Marie Lynch of Homestead, FL and Morton Muncil of Jaffrey, NH. She was preceded in death by her father Clarence Swinyer, her mother Lorena Martin and her brother Michael Muncil. Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Thursday, October 23, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9PM. A Women of the Moose service will be held at 7:30 PM Thursday. A funeral service will be held October 24, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Lawthers officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Vermontville.
