Obituary of Doris E. Kelly

A Memorial Service for Doris E. Kelly, age 100, of Ogdensburg, NY, will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg with Deacon Mark Lalonde officiating.  Burial will be held at Notre Dame Cemetery following the service.  Mrs. Kelly passed away on Monday morning, September 2, 2019 at Riverledge Nursing Home.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Thomas) Rivers, of St Cloud, Florida, her grandson, Stephen (Lisa) Pinkerton of Baldwinsville, NY; her granddaughter, Laurie (Michael) Para, of Kingwood, TX, her grandson Douglas (Linda) Pinkerton, of St. Cloud, Florida; her grandson Darren Rivers, of Ogdensburg, fifteen great-grandchildren; nephew Vince Kelly (Donna) of Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony; her brothers Allen and Richard Dashnaw, her sisters Burnice Kelly and Eileen Graveline; her granddaughter Suzanne (Dan) Skamperle, and her great grandson Bronco Skamperle.

Doris was born on June 5, 1919, in Ogdensburg, NY, the daughter of Victor and Florence Marlow Dashnaw.  She graduated from OFA in 1937.  She graduated from the Brooklyn School of Nursing in 1940, eventually moving back to Ogdensburg to work at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center where she retired in 1974 after 25 years.  She married Anthony M. Kelly on June 8, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY.  He predeceased her on May 5, 2005.

Doris was an avid fan of all sports.  She loved watching basketball and football, as well as going to many OFA athletic games to watch her grandchildren play. She was in fact a championship swimmer, life guard and cheerleader in her youth. Doris loved her little poodles, being with her family, and the St Lawrence River.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Doris’s memory to the Boys and Girls Club.
